Iqbal Ipad(2) Birthday today. Possibly Bob Shoker? No one is saying! There was video evidence which is being analyzed for photo shop manipulation.
Sadly Belinda Boyd is taking a leave of absence for a year for family reasons. We wish you well Belinda and will miss you.

Kal emulated Dick by being happy to be here. We were happy to have both of them here this morning.
Dalbir had been downtown and commented on how empty the streets and restaurants were and the anxiety this was creating.
Sandra was able to spend quality time with her 90 year old Aunt and sister(who I don't think is 90!) outside VGH. Good stories.
Judy went wine tasting with Chris B. in the Okanagan* see Chris B for story line. Judy was at an event where someone tested positive for Covid. She was contacted and has been in isolation which ends Sunday. She is lonely and bored and clearly did not buy enough wine with Chris B. But seriously the consequences of the possible contact have been an eye opener. Everyone is well except in a P.S. grandson fell and knocked out a front tooth so he will be without until permanent teeth arrive.
Query 1 - Does the tooth fairy come in these circumstances? Query 2 - Can we enter him in an Alfred E. Newman look a like contest until the permanent tooth is in?
Marg has retired the canner for the year. Too bad if you missed out. The good news from the physio is that she is recovering well. The bad news is she has another year of exercises and received 5 new ones. She said she is going to let Don do them for her until they get easier. JK. She can do 4 with difficulty and 1 she does not think she will ever do. We believe you will Marg.
Peter is tired of telling us about the Tulemeen but we are not tired of hearing about it. Especially when he reports the great community spirit and how he and Jane have been welcomed into it.
Kathy had a call from Rachael whose fellow employee was covid positive so a family party has been postponed and otherwise a quiet week.
Gordon attended in person with the Steveston club to induct a new member who happens to be an RCMP Officer. He also attended a celebration of life.
Bob - "aaah oh yeah I remember" - was going to Il Giardino's for his birthday but it is closed so will celebrate with a Boston Pizza. Bob's mom was lost in Lansdowne Mall for two hours. When she figured out how to get out she celebrated by spending two hours in Richmond Centre. Bob also went to a virtual funeral where he learned you can watch football on a simulcast.
Pat had a friend who contracted Covid at the Flying Beaver and went to Richmond General. While there the alleged gangster who was shot in the head was brought in. Small world and hope they had done a weapons check. Pat will be joining the hearing aid wave - at least I think that is what she said? Eh?
Chris B. opened her email and was able to vote by Fax but does not want the Donald to know. Sam thinks it will be reported on Fax News!!!! Ha Ha or did I miss something. *See Judy above. Chris B. and Judy could not agree on what was good wine. Usually Chris says whatever. Maybe it had something to do with 4 - 5 tasting glasses. If you can't agree you have to keep tasting right? Until you can't taste no more.
Ron's highlight of the week was getting a call from Kal. Maybe it was really tending to his flower garden.
Carolyn was golfing at Mayfair Lakes and just finished her best ball round before our morning meeting. If not best ball she would still be there. Please read your email to make sure you understand what is happening with your dues.
Melinda loves the rain until it starts flowing over her gutters. Thanked Debbie S. for arranging a hospital bed for a friend who had been in Delta Hospital. Gourmet and Newman's are ready for Thanksgiving - order your turkey early.
Chris P. is heading with Donnie to the cabin. Chris reports that RAPP will pick up dead animals from your yard for $25. Kal will do it for $24 and Debbie T. will rent out her cat who will bring them back to Debbie T's house for $20. Apparently, the deceased was a crow who visited Chris and on it's death a murder of crows did a funeral service fly past. Debbie M. was not in sight.
Garth recommends watching My Octopus Teacher on Netflix and Spanish Lattes.
Amanda went for a hike at Cyprus Bowl and attended a zoom wedding.
Deb T. saw a horned owl while walking the dog and the crows were upset. Debbie M was not in sight.
Michael was wondering why his neighbours were staring while he BBQed in the rain. Did you get dressed before you went out Michael?
Joyce pointed out the the number of first hand Covid cases are increasing among our members. Also her daughter in law is involved in may lawsuits challenging the covid restrictions in California. Ain't the land of the free wonderful.
Susan's cat turns off the computer out of jealousy but will also hunt when needed.
Bill provided us with a 5:30 AM weather report and Jake's ulcer reaction to anti-inflammatories is a lesson for us all.
Mary Lou can answer her phone using her hearing aids which are blue tooth enabled. Hello Hello stat u. Watch out for the sticker price shock.
Sam's phone crapped out and fortunately got a new one before he needed intervention. Will be paying his dues with Bitcoin - Carolyn thrilled.
Debbie S. doubled her Terry Fox fundraising goal and received a personal call with thanks. Her cat is in control - yeah and they let you know it.

Today was club business hosted by our President Debbie S. October is Vocational Service Month. We all need to carry out our occupations with the highest ethical standards and remember that all occupations are worthy. Activities to participate are classification speeches, business tours and workshops, act as a mentor, promote ethical behaviour and a vocational award program.
Read your email from Carolyn outlining amount and payment of dues.
We are hoping to run the on line auction commencing October 9th to 23rd. Drop off of items at Riverside Ballroom on October 10th. Details to follow once finalized with Givergy.
PR committee is on top of it. Thanks Susan and Kal.
Meanderings
Speaking of swine. The pig was domesticated about 8,700 years ago after goats and sheep were domesticated. Pigs are one of the most intelligent animals on the planet, just as elephants and dolphins. (Unless they build their homes out of straw or sticks). They learn faster than dogs or primates and their intelligence is compared to that of a three year old child. Don't believe me - ask a farmer or farmer google. Pigs, hogs, or swine consist of about eight species of mammals in the family Suidae, which is part of the order Artiodactyla(easy for me to say), the cloven-hoofed ungulates. Pigs are closely related to the peccaries (family Tayassuidae) and hippopotamuses (family Hippopotamidae).
Upcoming Events.
All meetings by Zoom until further notice.
Planning is proceeding for an on line auction. Tentatively set to commence October 9th to 23rd. Details to follow.
Coming up in October is the Walktober event. And yes there are prizes. See Amanda's email. Dates are October 4, 11, 18 and 25th 8:30 Garry Point.
Committee (and other) Updates
Still figuring out how to have an on line auction.
Board meeting October 15th.
TODAYS CHUCKLE
My cross-eyed wife and I just got a divorce. I found out she was seeing someone on the side.
A man walks into a bar and he has a pet octopus. He sits down at the bar and says to the bartender "give us two beers over here!"
The bartender walks over and see's the octopus and he says, "Didn't you see the sign over there it says no pets allowed!"
The man say's to the bartender, "oh but you don't understand this is a special octopus and he can play any musical instrument that you have."
The bartender replied back, "well I'll tell you what, if he can play any instrument you can both drink for free all night!"
The bartender walks up to the band playing and grabs a guitar. He puts it down on the bar.
The octopus crawls up on the bar and feels around the guitar for a little while, then finally he picks it up and starts jamming. He's so good he sounded like Jimi Hendricks!
The bartender was amazed and says, "alright lets try one more".
This time he goes into the back room and brings out a dusty old set of bagpipes and promptly put them on the bar and says "lets see him play this!"
The octopus starts crawling all over the bagpipes. He continues this for quite awhile.
The bartender shouted out " See I knew he couldn't play all these instruments!"
And the man replies, "Just give him a few more minutes...
as soon as he figures out he can't have sex with it, he'll play it!"
