Marg is having a great time on Palm Springs including a wonderful day at the Joshua Tree National Park.
Pat who was in the same zoom screen as Marg has been watching tennis and securing a fabulous parking space. (Seriously that is what I heard.) She did say it had been a little cloudy.
Bob had been wanting to go to the temple in the mornings and was there for about 10 minutes Thursday morning. He found it fulfilling and peaceful. He hopes to go more often. (you'll need it Bob when you are president - just sayin').
Debbie S’. son is now engaged and he proposed on top of a mountain in Palm Springs. Debbie bought a tree see at Joshua Tree National Park that has sprouted. Instructions are to water and plant in soil. Debbie is spending more time now in her happy place - the garden.
Blair is back from Grande Prairie where it was minus 24 so no more complaints of rain.
Sandra was sunny. Okay so my hearing is starting to go and Garth keeps trying to talk to me. 🤬
Dalbir is back from Mexico where the weather was beautiful. Custom requested production of a work permit before allowing him back in the country. Peter also had to commit to hiring him next year at the nursery. Funny he doesn’t look latino! 🤦🏽♂️
Mary Lou had an owwie, face planting while taking Oscar for a bike riding lesson.
Judy while she was still teaching lost a wrestling match with a vacuum cleaner that gave her a black eye. As an exercise she asked her classroom how a person might get a black eye. (let us count the ways). Grandson Connor was in a hockey tournament and won the bronze medal. There was an annoying woman fan with a cowbell whose team lost to Connor’s in the bronze metal game. (isn’t vengeance one of the seven sins?) Will be babysitting 6 grandkids on Saturday.
Debbie M. took her granddaughter to open gym and she (the granddaughter that is)was running everywhere. She was grabbing the balls and stood by the kid with the ball she wanted (that might of been Debbie). Was also thrilled with the penguins at the aquarium. Also has a new listing where she (this definitely was Debbie) had 34 showings mainly because of a lack of inventory.
Kal’s lovely wife Lavina is back from India, and she yelled at him about using the walking sticks (I have first dibs on them). Now he claims he walks like a duck. (If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck – what is it? 🦆)
Bill is back from Tampa Bay. Garth was still talking to me so this is what I recorded of what Bill said. “Part of youth exchange and the youngest one of the participants was doing on the phone and walked to car hear car door and power cord.” (I don’t know you figure it out. At least it’s not “blah blah blah.”)
Sam enjoyed breakfast dinner at in laws. He and Bill joined LGBTQ allied hockey team and he scored his 5th and 6th goals of the year one of which was in over time.
Brian won an award from the YMCA apparently the odds were in his favour. Took Adam skiing on Saturday and he is improved, Adam that is – Brian stayed out of the powder. He now has a an Online dating profile that he thinks will be good. Warned by Garth, who was still talking, that Brian should wait at least 12 months. Or he (Brian that is) will be going through it again. Your intrepid reporter from a source who asked to remain anonymous, says that he, Brian that is, had 40 hits from different women within 24 hours – on his online profile.
Carolyn says the kids are in Victoria again so the house is quiet. She has been busy at Chamber (of Commerce – I assume) with political events. On Tuesday with the federal minister of agriculture where she learned about the different agricultural sectors and foreign workers (Dalbir’s name may have come up). She toured a food processor. There is apparently a senior men’s hockey tournament in Richmond inundating the city with men. (Carolyn doesn’t need an on line profile to get hit on 40 times.) Played wet golf with Max and others on the weekend.
Christine, Elena’s guest whom she just met, is a speech therapist and has a foundation called Beautiful Voices. Christine works with autism and other speech issues in a clinical setting but works to do more. Hopes to come to our club and tel about her Foundation.
Elena met Christine today. Elena has been away for a month and a half. Visited a Rotary celebrating it’s 40th anniversary and she has been the only visitor from Canada.
Jeanette after the meeting last week was going to bring breakfast to her husband and went to Tim Horton’s and discovered she forgot her purse. So with no driver’s licence she phoned her husband who showed up and bought his own breakfast. She and a group were going to Las Vega but had to cancel. This apparently required cancelling the flights for everyone. She was required to pay for the cancellation and for booking on the phone. Apparently if you check in personally at the airport you will also be charged. Did not mention the airline but this really sucks.
Susan cannot remember what she did last week but said the fundraising auction for Women’s Resource Centre is ending this weekend. She is excited about her birthday Monday and is looking forward to our gala and will she will enter her auction items.
Michael caught up on paperwork this week but April will be busy. His wife is back and her trip has made her more independent so she is doing more things on her own. He has more time with the kids.
Danny Bourne said it was nice to be back from the dental mission. After Philippines he went to Japan where he attended a Rotary meeting in Tokyo and brought their banner with him. The club was chartered in 1967 and meet at 12:30 in the hotel where he was staying. He was going to go to Korea but went to Bangkok instead. He brought a banner from a club there which was chartered in 1958. Kim Jung Un was disappointed Danny missed Korea so did his missile – Kim’s that is.
Max is on spring break. He went to see the Canucks and played golf this week.
I have one set of grandkids is in Disneyland this week with their other grand parents. Sandy and I put our standard poodle of 14 years down – Cache.😥
Garth recommends waiting 12 months before dating and he is speaking from experience because he has repeat customers – some for the third time. Told a client who was getting married in Hawaii not to and 6 months later the client was looking for his next divorce. He had choir last night and super seniors golf today. One of his partners got a job with the Law Society so Garth once again has a full litigation practice.
Amanda no way set alarm for this morning but will need to Sunday as she is heading to Whistler early.
Bobby went for his first run and survived enough to come to breakfast. Taking Max to a lacrosse game. He is looking forward to march madness and birthdays for his wife and daughter. He is then off to Toronto.
Gordon wished everyone a happy spring. He thanked the Ghirras for the weekend Victor Ghirra dinner. He was delighted to see we have two speech therapists so we can understand what he says. (Gordon don’t lose your brogue!)
Peter’s housing project is progressing but one thing leads to another. It currently seems endless changing and painting but eventually everything will be done.
Chris M. has had a productive week. She ordered five yards of soil to fix up the garden for her sons wedding. She thought it would take three days to move the soil but Max and Olivia moved the soil in an hour and a half.
Melinda says John and Heath are having a fabulous time in Australia. She was sent a picture of John eating breakfast when a duck flew over and pooped on his lap. (If it flies like a duck and poops like a duck, it’s a 🦆).
