Last weeks meeting
First meeting in the new location!! As far as I know, no one went to the Richmond Country Club! Bit of a walk from the free parking but hey, its all exercise. Expect it will take a few meetings to get used to the new routine of filling your plate at the buffet as soon as you arrive.
Micheal Ghirra was inducted into Rotary by Marg. Following the presentation of his name badge and Rotary pin, he gave his classification speech. Micheal provided a very interesting summary of his family history starting in India, then to London, then to Toronto and ending in the Lower Mainland. When he was 6 months old his mother took him out to the fields where she was picking berries to earn money for food etc. At age 5 he was also picking berries!! Hard work and family co-operation has allowed the Ghirra family to expand the first Banquet Hall started in 1993, to the current 5 operating banquet halls! President Sam thanked Micheal for his speech...

- Speaking of our superbly conditioned members - Danny is heading off to China next week, as he heard of one more mountain he has not climbed!

Calling all bulletin editor wannabees.... After the August 22 meeting your editor will be away for 3 weeks. Last bulletin Aug 27 (for the Aug 22 meeting), Next bulletin would be on Sept 24 (for the Sept 19 meeting). If you are interested in this exciting (?) opportunity ask Dick for a quick overview before Aug 22.....

This years summer social has been set for Sunday Sept 8 following the ACTS water walk plus the photo opportunity at our water filling station (corner of Steveston Hwy and Railway). The event will take place at Debbie Samsoms home in Tsawwassen and dinner will be served. Please sign up so we have an idea for catering.
