This is the weekly bulletin for
The Richmond
Sunrise Rotary Club
for Dec 11/2018

Last weeks meeting

 - This was our annual Christmas fund meeting. There were numerous toy (and cash/cheque) donations. Lots of books, games, tractors, trucks, firetrucks and even one tool kit!! Toys went to the Victor Ghirra Toy Drive, Money went to the Richmond Christmas fund. Club matched donations up to $3k. Michael Ghirra thanked the club on behalf of the toy drive, Wayne Duzita thanked the club on behalf of the Richmond Christmas Fund....

 - Michael Ghirra told us the previous week about how Sukhy B  encouraged all the Richmond CIBC branches to get involved last year, thus significantly increasing toy donations. Good work Sukhy!!

 - SAA time was mostly taken up with the annual toy donation stories. Always very enjoyable, many of them from "long ago". A hi-lite of the season!

 - Dalbir used his time (in addition to donating) to introduce his guest. Lucas was the incoming 17 yr old Rotary exchange student in 1996. He lived with Dalbir and Kal during his exchange (also stayed at the Edwards and Madsen homes). Lucas is now a Doctor of Orthopedics in his home country of Argentina. He stopped by Vancouver on his way to a conference in the Southern US. He visited at the Rai's while in Vancouver and Dalbir brought him to our meeting. So nice to see this handsome Rotary Exchange student that is now a successful "man of the world"!

Meanderings

 - Many Rotarians attended the celebration of life event for Geri Rollo on Saturday Dec 08 held at the Richmond life event center.

Today's Chuckle

An accountant got out of bed and complained that he had not slept a wink.
"Why didn't you count sheep?" his wife asked

"I did, that is what got me into trouble" the accountant replied "I made a mistake during the first hour, and it took me until this morning to correct it."
