This is the weekly bulletin for
The Richmond
Sunrise Rotary Club
for Jan 29/2019

Last weeks meeting

President Larry thanked Stuart, our new early morning setup and takedown guy... Very, very helpful and takes a lot of pressure off the President...

President elect Sam presented a Givergy Tutorial - a preview of the process for entering prize info into the Givergy system. He was ably assisted by "Ivana" (aka Debbie S.)

Approx 25 members present

 - Sam suggested that since a Rotarian with a new car gets to put $20 into the SAA collection then it should warrant removal of $20 when ones car is "T-boned" as his was recently. Sounds like this needs a board decision, maybe wait until July 2019?!?!

 - Peter enjoyed the recent Abbotsford agricultural days. Got to chat with some Provincial "bigwigs"...

 - Noticed a couple of members arrived a bit late - can't mention their names but both start with Chris....

 - President Larry reminded us that it is only 11 months until Christmas!!

 - Treasurer Kathy is away for 3 weeks, Avery covering during her absence....

Meanderings

- Did you know?.... How Rotary got its name?

On  23 February 1905, Paul P. Harris and three friends gathered in his office for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting. Harris’ desire for camaraderie among business associates brought together these four men and eventually led to an international organization of service and fellowship. The very first members chose the name Rotary because initially they rotated subsequent weekly club meetings to each other's offices, although within a year, the Chicago club became so large it became necessary to adopt the now-common practice of a regular meeting place.
