This years Christmas Social will be a lunch at the Ghirra's held on the day of the poinsettia pick up - November 28th. Further details to follow.
Our club is joining with other clubs to award a Richmond external Paul Harris award in March of 2022. So start thinking of a deserving recipient.
The club AGM will be on November 4th .
There will be no meeting on November 11th, recognizing Remembrance Day.
The Lower Mainland Foundation dinner/event will be held on February 5th 2022 – more details will follow.

December 9th will be our annual toy donation for the Victor Ghirra toy drive. So bring something that reminds you of a Christmas memory. It could just be money.
November 28th is currently the Christmas holiday luncheon. Stayed tune this is not without controversy.

Dalbir's neighbour had a kidney transplant at 8 and now is 34.

Peter goes for orientation drive this morning with a seasoned volunteer cancer driver. Garth's Jean has signed up as well.
Micheal one week of birthday celebrations. Whistler keg cactus club Chinese food twice thanks family for a great birthday and Bobby left him alone. Michael Jordan’s last dance is the current recommended binge fare.
Jackie had both parents contract covid and her father passed away but not from Covid. Was comforted with conversations with Larry. Jackie joining Rotary is a result of her father who took her to Rotary. The Club, thanks to Belinda and Debbie M. has arranged for Jackie's father to receive a Paul Harris posthumously.
Marg was going to resign from the Club when Jackie, who was president at the time tore up the resignation letter. And we are all grateful. Had great fun at the Canucks opening game.
Judy attended wearing Ralph’s old Halloween costume. Mark Standerwick's son has been missing for two weeks. Mark was a partner of Ralphs. Debbie M's surgery went well and she (Debbie that is) reminds us to get our orders in for poinsettias.
John cautioned not to lose your false teeth in the piss trough but if you do don't put them back in your mouth.
Chris M. had pet cat Sasha slip out door. There was frantic searching for an hour and a half. Hired professional pet finder with a blood hound that tracked Sasha around the neighbourhood. All neighbours were friendly and helpful when she knocked on their doors and four days later Sasha was at the back door. Benefits; Found a gold earring she had lost.

Garth had office Halloween party where everyone came and Garth dressed as John Wick.
Debbie Samson watched click bait in two nights. Daughter is going for third and final knee surgery was not supposed to get it until September but will get the surgery in Campbell River next week. Apparently they are removing some of the hamstring to attach to the knee. Amazing.
Mary Lou had a lovely time at the pumpkin patch and took Alan. Wrecked his boots. The weekend is a good time to go to the pumpkin patch because no school groups on the weekend.
Dick woke up with the noise.
Danny wearing his bat man mystery uniform will run in spite of rain and leaving for the middle east tomorrow for a couple of weeks.
Ron was haunted by the mute spook who is back - it is Halloween. Dreadful rain in darkness missed seeing Bill in Steveston while doing his 10,000 steps.
Sam was talking about whether it is better to be fun or right. At the last hockey game after the buzzer an opponent shot at the goalie. Sam got his number. Sam may have shoved the guy a couple of times. Turned out to be the wrong guy because he was pushing number 6 when it should have been 5. The message got across anyway and Sam says it is better to have fun.
Bill loves the bulletin. It was exhilarating and emotional to be at the Canucks game with 20,000 people. Kudos to Kyle Beach and his bravery to come forward with his story. No blahs today.
Melinda's granddaughter shared her cold so Melinda stayed at home and visited us on zoom. Granddaughter dressing as a dinosaur for Halloween. Seafair Gourmet Meats is nominated for the best small business in Richmond. Congratulations and well deserved.
Belinda had a house guest from Ireland who was a past colleague and staying for a couple days. Attending her first in person board meeting. Caring Place is seeking new board members if you are interested let Belinda know. Jackie designed first logo for Richmond Caring Place.
Elena also briefly attacked by the mute spook. She is being challenged with early gift of a Mac book.
Gordon, shout out to Jackie as his sponsor to our club. Lousy morning too difficult to drive. All kinds of events this week on zoom and suffering from zoomitis but on the wait list for a zoomectomy. Maybe you will get it in Campbell River. Had lunch at Blue Canoe with our district governor elect.
Bobby went to first movie in a long time for a VIP experience. Is struggling with a dentist and an uneven cap. He is going back for a third session of grinding. Garth offered a file.
Debbie T. drove to seven road Thursday morning before turning back as the rain was so bad she missed the turn. Last year decorated the cul de sac for Halloween with candy in the middle of the Cul-de-sac. it was so popular she gets to do it again. Looking forward to trip to Hawaii on the 27th of November which has been booked since June 2020.
Pat thinking about Debbie M. and glad to hear she is doing well. Palm Springs beautiful and sunny and hard to leave. Needed a negative covid test for the return flight on a Tuesday, got the results late Monday. Returned home to see that the raccoons are still tearing up the front yards in spite of having sprayed for the grubs.

Jackie told us that the Richmond Christmas fund started in 1932 when Ethel Tibbets saw needy families that required assistance at Christmas and it continues today under Richmond Cares. The book, Richmond Secrets and Surprises, is the contribution of 100 writers who told their story of Richmond. She said that every ones story matters and that many people wanted to write their story but did not know where to start. Jackie misses her community connections and is doing something for Christmas. She has started a fundraiser called "From our home to yours food toys and memories". Any donation will make a difference $200 will feed a family of four. Special deal for Sunrise Rotarians - $100 will give a binder. Bear track is the symbol of Richmond Christmas fund.
Nancy appreciates how much this has helped people and how people remember the gift from 30 years ago. If you know of people struggling refer them to the fund. People are still struggling now and it has been a difficult year for many. So add a bear and help a family. You can involve kids for toonies from the children.
Last year the donations helped 2,866 people. They start deliveries in mid November and will also give coupons. So remember;

National Geographic had an article on the airline industry moving to greener fuels and electric powered flight. I had a modicum of pride when I read this part of the article.
"One intriguing approach is in British Columbia where a commuter seaplane operator is retrofitting its workhorse fleet of 60 year old de Havilland Beavers and Otters, swapping out gas-fired piston engines for electric motors. Greg McDougall, Harbour Air's founder and chief executive, piloted the December 2019 initial test run on the first such plane. (The company's application for electric operation is making its way through the labyrinthine regulatory process.) 'We're proud to be the first airline in the world to offer completely clean electric flight, fueled by our province's sustainable hydropower,' McDougall tells me. "But I'm not doing this just because I'm some wild - eyed environmentalist hippie. I am a businessman. this is going to lower my costs, which is going to lower the cost of every-one's tickets.' Harbour Air is an ideal candidate for electric conversion: Its flights typically take less than 35 minutes, while the batteries can las at least an hour on a charge, offering ample reserve power."
If you saw the Saturday Vancouver Sun you may have seen the item that the BC government is going to provide $1.8 million for the project. So Dick the value of your condo will increase eventually because it will be quieter outside your balcony.
