Last weeks meeting
We were led in singing Oh Canada by the trio from the Richmond Singers!
PE Debbie S presented a cheque to "The Richmond Singers" - accepted by Cindy, Pat and MaryAnne. They thanked the club for the donation to their worthy cause.
As November is "Foundation Month", Debbie M and Gord gave us a talk on the various aspects of the Rotary Foundation. Debbie told us that the expectation is for $100 by EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year). She said that the the easiest way to do this is to go online and set up an appropriate contribution (see link in Meanderings). Gord described the various grant categories and explained how matching grants can dramatically increase the funds available for a project. $331.9 M were applied to projects last year! Debbie S thanked our speakers.... .

- Seemed that having the Richmond Singers opening our meeting with Oh Canada, triggered a number of music related stories. Not sure it is related to music but this was one of the most laughter filled Rotary meetings yet!
- Debbie S explained how she had "dashed" her daughters dreams of becoming a famous violinist...
- Kal reminded us that the tradition of wearing your name badge and doing the hand shake greeting needs to be continued even though the morning breakfast routine is slightly different at this location..
- Lots of Kudos about the recent Pathways dinner event. Sandra is on the Board at Pathways and mentioned an interest from The Jim Pattison foundation. Thanked Bruce for his work with our club..
- John "passed" his recent exam - 96%!!!!

From Debbie S: Further to my email earlier this week, I would like to inform everyone that Melinda Newman and Bob Shoker have withdrawn their candidacy for President-Elect. Therefore, Pat Atkinson will be appointed to the position by acclamation. This means that no voting will be required at or before the AGM.

Today's Chuckle
- After a morning fishing, a Rotarian left for a District meeting in the afternoon and his wife decided to motor out into the lake, drop anchor and read her book.
A Game Warden pulls up alongside the woman in his boat. "'Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?" - "Reading a book" she replies.
"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area" he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading". "Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."
"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with Sexual assault" says the woman. "But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.
"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."
"Have a nice day ma'am" the warden said, and he left.
