Mary Lou report that the Steveston Rotary club room is disappearing as the Buccaneer is also disappearing. Mary Lou has taken up muddy Golf. No instruction needed.
Dick congrats to Eleanore and Chris for the electronic auction site. Dick reminded us of how he and Barb and others worked on the spreadsheets of items and bid sheets.
Eleanore thanks for letting her work on the auction. It was great to see her and tell her how grateful we all are for the work she has put in for the club once again.
Belinda has been touring across the border and particularly enjoyed Anacortes and has a BnB to recommend. She also strongly recommended we read an article in this months Rotarian about the black mamba’s. A group of conservation minded young women without guns patrolling for poachers.
Bobby is feeling under the weather so zoomed in on us today. He had nice birthday at Olympic Village. Otherwise he will get some rest and take care.
Carolyn fiddled with the video on her commuter but was unable to connect with us visually we had to take her word for it that it was her. Who ever it was gave kudos to Mary Lou & Dick for setting up club runner.
Amanda who we also could not see said that Carolyn looking fabulous. Amanda was late getting into Regina but still enjoyed her hair styling class and saw no snow She had a busy week and can now sew more hair into other peoples hair.
Debbie T. attended a board meeting went for 6 hours until after 11. It was the first in person meeting. The Board reviewed a DEI report based on a district survey. All recommendations were approved. The school trustee AGM was about truth and reconciliation. She learned about indigenous culture and the sadness surrounding residential schools. The experience was uplifting but a lot of work needs to be done. Her Mother in law has been diagnosed with bone cancer. Debbie participated in the Sun Run and it was good to be back outside and fun running in the crowd.
Joyce glad to be back playing golf and enjoying the sunshine.
Elena went to see her grandson in Redmond for the first time in three years and also visited relatives in Tacoma too. The Foundation dinner was great.
Garth remembers printing bid sheets 50 at a time and delivering them to the venue. They had to be done by 4 o’clock and the club could not set up until 4. No this still doesn't make him older than Dick. He has three concerts this weekend. If you have to wait 9 hours in the RGH waiting room he recommends you drive to the Whistler walk in clinic a 5 hour trip. He was treated right away to get his fingered stitched.
Christine is finding it a joy to work with Eleanore. They both like to be organized and she thanks for all the hours spent. Christine claims to be racked with guilt as she is going to Spirit Ridge with six women for four days of bridge and golf. 😒Uh Huh
Debbie S. is enjoying hearing that other people are travelling and doing things once again. Wonderful.
Marg had a great dinner for her wedding anniversary. She is looking forward to next season for the Canucks. Saturday morning her sister moves to her new place and it has been a joy to have her back. Marg attended four memorials last week including a friend died as a result of a fall and donated their organs.
Peter sadly lost a friend age 75, who fell and cracked her head causing a blood clot. We are progressively getting more in danger of falling so take care. Peter's fishing trip to Sheridan lake has been cancelled due to global warming - actually the lake is still frozen solid.
Kal claims nobody wants his organs. Kal has nerve damage in his ankle and now will go for a CT scan and the painful saga continues.
Dalbir visitors have left so he and family now have their home to themselves. He helped two boys through the accounting program who have raised $100,000 for charity.
Bill reported that Jake and Kyla had rented a place in Harlem for $3,000 per month with the lease stipulating the rent rises to $5,000 in a year. They plan to move on Sunday but were waiting for confirmation that they can move as the increase is illegal.
Sam and Justin are back from two weeks in the Philippines. They spent a day at a zoo that made conservation efforts here look good. He got to feed a tiger cub for 500 pesos ($10🐅). Went ATVing up a volcano and surfing. Happy to be back.
Amar remembers the last time he attended one of our meetings he had to put a coin into a container. He remembers the Auctions at the Executive Inn and to think there was a location before came as a surprise. This will be Amar's 15th auction as a volunteer and we really appreciate it. He is now working with Dale in real estate and is enjoying spending some time with dad. (some in the audience disputed that this could be true - Dale fun? 🙄)
I did not record what I said so I will say that Sandy has mostly recovered from her covid and blah blah blah - oh no, now I sound like Bill!🤢
Chris P. reported that Donnie has his craniotomy on Monday and heading home Thursday. Prognosis is good and they removed a benign tumour the size of a golf ball. Now that is hitting it into the rough.
Sandra went to the zoo in Palm Springs where there was a very sad bald eagle in a small cage. Mary Lou gave then an elliptical that Brian said he would use. And he did - once. Fortunately a seniors home will take it. Sandra was the beneficiary of four burial plots and advertised them as plots that come with a view. Guy who was interested in the lots kept asking questions thinking he was looking a buying housing lots.
Melinda thank the Ghirras for the great Foundation dinner. Sadly Melinda also had a long term friend age 63 pass away. Melinda asks that you please reach out if you are suffering with depression. Also appreciate and hug the people you love.
Gordon hoped that those males with stubble notice Amar’s real beard. Gordon found the food really fantastic at the foundation dinner. At the dinner they were selling off Paul Harris fellowships for $500 matched by the district and 25 were sold. Enjoyed being the Foundation dinner MC as it reminded him of herding highland cattle. Talk about the horns of a dilemma. 
Micheal has been busy with work. (does Bobby agree?) Pre wedding weeks are always very busy. His son wrote last exam for BBA in finance and completes a four year program in three. He had three interviews and received offers from each interview. Micheal's daughter is going into law school. Hosted a 300 person party for his two year old. He went to hockey game and enjoyed the food at club 500. There my or may not have been a hockey game. Netflix report - Obama seeing previously unknown animals with night vision camera.
Pat is going to see Da Kink in My Hair production. She was glad her bowling ball was not in the back of her car during the accident. She would have at least gotten a spare.
