AGM November 19th 2020.
The Speakers committee is scheduling a speaker on the topic of the uses of toilet paper. The Committee is scouring the internet for the expert with the most insight into the uses of toilet paper and the pros and cons of the different strategies behind its use.
Garth had been a member of the Club for 32 years. It just seems longer.

sergeant At Arms Tidbits
Dalbir gave the eulogy at his sons celebration of life. He also coordinated the event and described the challenges he faced he doing so at the time of Covid. The young man died of a heart attack and reminded everyone to have a check up. The whole club expresses its sincere condolences to Dalbir and his family.
Mary Lou had her physical exam over the phone. Spent Halloween with Oscar the sloth.
Kal was angry at the student visa hooligans partying on Granville. Suggested they all be deported back to Trumptown, Berzerkistan. Happy Dollars for Sikh's who took off their sacred turbans to save two girls from drowning in Alberta.
Bill was destroying his 29 year old body and it looked like he was doing a good job. Reported that Westjet will extend the gift of flight he won at the auction for a year. Good on you.
Peter's daughter won the Richmond Banner contest which I understood was going to be a bike with a basket of flowers. Thanks Peter for helping with the Sean's Gift of Hope presents.
Sandra had 8 kids trick or treat on Halloween.
Judy had a scavenger hunt and dressed up in a Minnion costume. Was that the one in the video of the partyers on Granville. Unfortunately her partners lunch was covid cancelled.
Kathy went to Victoria for a craft brewery crawl.
Ron successfully walked his daily 7.7 km. but has been unsuccessful for 5 weeks in getting delivery of his new Ipad.
Joyce has a new Apple Watch that showed her walking 54.6 kms and then another 76.2 kms overnight. She did not disclose what she had been doing and tried to blame the watch. Uhhuh!
Gordon pointed out that you can get your Rotory Magazine on line.
Melinda's Butcher From Botswana (no not a Halloween horror movie) finally arrived in the country after being hired 18 months ago. Apparently the plane was leaving, backed up and he ran for it.
Pat reported watching a special on Bill Gates on Netflix and also the US election. Enjoyed walktober.
Garth recommended watching Social Dilemma and he is on the list for a new hip.
Michael enjoyed Bobby's fireworks possibly for the last time. On his way to Whistler with no kids just he and his wife for 4th anniversary. He invited all of us to come for a visit over the weekend.
Bobby enjoyed being at Mike's on Halloween. Was annoyed that the Bachelor was bounced for the US election. He is eating healthy but was shut down on his idea of returning to school.
Hey Bobby go for it. I am taking a History Class a Kwantlen and it is interesting and fun. Also exploring remote prostate exam methods to go with on line medical exam. will report details when available.
Danny used 3 apps to check weather and northern lights conditions. Did not see lights did see snow to the point where his plane would not leave. He may still be in the Yukon climbing every mountain.
Bob also agrees the Halloween partiers should be deported. Has decided to upgrade friends and golfed with Garth and me. Muddied out of the back nine at Green Acres.
Sam was struggling because as Kanye West's running mate they were not even in the running. Even the Libertarian Candidate got more votes. Sam will ask for a recount.
Carolyn has watched little of the election.
Debbie S. suggested Mosaic or Iss to help the Butcher from Botswana. Debbie to reduce covid anxiety finds a park, finds some friends, finds some chairs and has a lunch. Oh what is missing from this picture - find some wine!!! Oh and watch Blair House.

Rotary Foundation spends 92% of its funds on programs. These include clean water, sanitation, education, fighting disease, maternal health, community development, and the environment.
Our recent Global Grants were for water supply in Uganda and Computer based education in remote parts of the Philippines. It has been a life changing program as allows for internet access in the rugged and remote areas of the country. Global Grants match our clubs contribution to them.
We were thanked for supporting the water in Uganda project and Debbie sent you the video.
For 2020 - 2021 we have submitted two grant requests for the Food Bank Freezer and our Richmond High School Scholarships. An International Committee meeting will be scheduled soon and the committee is looking for new ideas. At Christmas the District will match any $500 donation. This is Rotary Month. We have 13 members who donate monthly and the expectation is that each member will donate $100 U.S. per year. Paul Harris Fellows are granted to Rotarians who donate a $1,000 U.S. to the Foundation and points can be transferred to others.
The Foundation committee is working on a fundraiser as Covid and apparently gaming laws have reduced our options.

Avery, Mark and Christine M. we miss you! Along with anyone else we have not seen in three weeks or longer.
This Wednesday is Remembrance Day and for those of my generation we had to memorize the following poem in elementary school:
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow

In WW I Canada suffered 66,000 dead and 172,000 injured. To put this into perspective the population of Canada at the time was almost 8 million. If you apply this ratio to Canada's population today of 35 million it would equate to about 290,000 dead and 753,000 wounded. During WW I about 10 % of the population was enlisted in the armed forces.
In WW II there were 45,000 deaths and 55,000 injured population 11 million.
Korean War 516 dead, 1,200 injured
Afghanistan 158 dead, 1,800 injured
Through your donations to the Legion Poppy Fund, the Legion provides financial assistance and support to Veterans, including Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, and their families who are in need.
