Sandra went Tuesday to help with the Gilmore breakfast for 150 well behaved kids. She had trouble opening the milk and one of the students said they had always wondered how seniors open the milk. (no problems with wine bottles.) There was a card from a student named Evan thanking our club for providing breakfast.
I watched a video of two of my grandchildren saying what they loved most about their mom. One said hugs and kindness after prompting, and the other said how she cleans up. Both were more interested in watching the video.
Bobby enjoyed the board meeting at Mary Lou’s, especially the pizza. He otherwise had a quiet week wrapping up last week’s events.
Michael had a quiet week, and his wife is back after three weeks in India. He explained they had a funeral service at the palace this week that took 36 hours over two days to set up. So our meeting was moved to the banquet hall. The floral arrangement cost over $100,000 dollars. He does not recommend the chicken big Mac.
Jeanette volunteered for her second Gilmore breakfast and had a lot of fun. She may cook sausage next time. Elena came back last night is tired and Peachy is still in her cast. We missed them both.
Amanda had nothing exciting to report but when she is off work the sun comes out (now that is a superpower). She is planning to travel to Saskatchewan as her brother is getting divorced. They will have a girls weekend while she is there.
Debbie T. enjoyed the IWD event. The schools are crying for breakfast programs. The minister will continue to provide money from the hard ship funds and working with Feed BC and local food producers to get healthy food.
Susan was busy with the IWD day. She spent all day at Costco and when she was leaving one of her tires was flat as a pancake. She drove slowly to the tire shop where her Costco family helped her out. She is excited about her 8th anniversary with the club and being part of a group that helps people.
Garth has two more days of trial.
Peter’s 11 year old Granddaughter won her basketball tournament she was named player of the game.
Kal asked about the little girl’s party for Amanda (methinks he was fishing for an invitation). Has great news as his back is healing properly and no evidence of cancer. Kal noticed that Michael was wearing Kal’s belt – just the initials were backwards MK.
Marg bought a new van for Don to drive drunks around. She attended the IWD event and the Corleone concert one of the best ever. (even if Garth wasn’t there.) Has to decide whether to watch curling, tennis, or the Canucks. Heaven forbid the remote goes on the blink. She is off to Palm Springs.
Chris B. enjoyed serving at the Gilmore breakfast and thinks Jeanette should stay on pancakes as she is the best flipper. There were a lot of parents at the school. The team went through two huge bags of pancake mix and it was hard to keep up. She went on a condo tour to their new condo down on the river which is currently being built. Not the river the condo.
Larry had a part of one ear removed and was hoping to balance the ears with the other – but it would be at his expense. He is feeling good and every time he has surgery recovery is a little slower. Got tired of watching the food network and now back to reading.
Brian went skiing on cypress with Adam. Brian used to snow board but not this time. Tried to follow his brother who was on a snow board through powder and a narrow trail. One of the skis fell off so he will in future avoid powder and stick to the green runs.
Mary Lou enjoyed entertaining the board. She has been out for lots of dinners, lunches, and also thought the Corleone concert was fantastic.
Bob enjoyed the pizza and panna cotta at the board meeting but struggled trying to keep up with Bobby. (Good luck with that.)🍕🍕🍕🍰🍩🍨 Bob found PETS amazing and inspiring. Also learned what plenary meant. One speaker had been a Major General in Iraq who saved his soldiers by turning his back to the Muslims who were chanting death to the Americans, and kneeling down. This is apparently a sign of surrender. Another speaker was the Rotary CEO who was originally from Ukraine. There was going to be a coup in the Ukraine but he printed up the 80 proxies needed to stop the coup and had them signed. The main issue for Rotary as always, is membership with the young people reluctant because of the cost and time commitment. So Rotary is relaxing the rules including having meetings just twice a month and the attendance rules. But not once every couple of months. This years theme is to create hope and change in yourself. He met local clubs presidents and they are toing to try to work together and keep the dialogue going.
Debbie S. went out twice, once to the board meeting and a White Caps soccer(she meant football) game and the Caps won 5 – 0 (but she meant 5 - nil.)
Sam channeled his inner Amanda with a blank screen on zoom and said he was happy to be here. We were happy he was here not to be seen too.
Melinda said John and Heath are in Australia with snakes, ostriches, kangaroos and Melinda’s ex husband. Something gets swept off the porch (could have been snakes, ostriches, kangaroos, or her ex husband.) The beaches are beautiful. Melinda’s shoulder is very sore and will be getting an MRI March 21. She has to sleep in her chair at it is too painful to lay on her side.
