Debbie S. came to us live and in person from Whistler where she celebrated her daughters birthday with nice dinner last night. Before that she was in Palm Springs with John and her Dad. There is lovely weather there so she is heading back to Palm Springs to do a half marathon.
Larry is off to North Van for a biopsy on his leg and he is waiting for an MRI which is hard to get. Steve is away at the casino.
Kal did his own personal marathon by making it up the stairs by himself that led to massive applause. He sold two tickets to the gala as well.
Marg was not going to talk about how mad she is at the Canucks. Did go to see the play Forgiveness which after waiting for over an hour was cancelled as some cast members were sick. On Monday is the lunch for her six senior woman friends in their late 70s and 80s. Marg admitted she is catching up and sadly the group is getting smaller.
Chris B. is going to be a substitute teacher first time since 1977. She is very excited but apparently not Malcolm. Was sent the teaching plan yesterday and will be subbing for 2.5 hours. Kal is her new sushi buddy. Appreciated listening to the stories of a Holocaust survivor and has a friend who is a Holocaust survivor who speaks to groups.
Dalbir had a friend who started a trust company but sadly died whose son ran it into the ground. Dalbir is helping out and organized the business well enough it satisfied the regulators. There are still visitors coming and going.
Bill was thrilled that Linda and Taylor Crain were at our meeting to honour Dean. Sam is in Denver and Bill will not be here next week. (Guys, Denver is not in the Super Bowl.) Went to a Baht Miztfah where 13 year old girls proved they can scream louder than hockey fans. At the largest synagogue in New York where he listened to violins that had been saved from the Holocaust embossed on the back with the star of David.
Peter saw Forgiveness and enjoyed it. He doesn't normally enjoy live theatre but this is an unbelievable story set in Alberta and the lower mainland.
Jeanette was able to take her dog to MacDonald beach for a romp. Sunday she visited with and took out a friend who is dying with bone marrow cancer.
Peachey attended two celebrations of life including one friend who was killed by her nephew. Was very happy that her parents and family visited Danny and Elena at the dental mission in the Philippines.
Susan said it was nice to be here in person and will improve hugging and shaking hands - once she gets to the meeting on time. She did not have an interesting week so said she would sit down. She did make it out for sushi during the week.
Garth has not been to a meeting since before Christmas. He has a living room full of presents the opening of which was delayed as both he and his son had covid. (At least I think that was the narrative.) The skies in Palm Springs were blue and he missed atmospheric river. However it did rain enough to wash out fairways and he could see fields were flooded as he flew home. They had fantastic accommodation in a house. He is back to work with a 20 day trial starting in a week. Golf has doubled in price in Palm Springs and the best deal was $95 US on a course he would not play on.
Chris M. had her golf cancelled yesterday because of snow. She will be thinking about Larry. She has had a wonderful time with Max who has been integrated into the family. She is walking a lot and off to Kerrisdale for croissants. With Max living with them there are no left overs.
Max on Friday went to a giants game, has been golfing and last Monday cooked an edible dinner.
Micheal was away for a couple of meetings and this was his first official meeting as a real member. He was a couple weeks in California and did see the rain that hit Sacramento. The rain caused a six hour lay over so they ended up partying at the Seattle airport. The weather was beautiful in California although cold for Californians.
Mary Lou is also back after three weeks. Was in Florida for the jazz cruise where the music was great and fun. She also toured the everglades for the first time. She is now back to work. Her Dad turned 96 and she was allowed to bring Oscar and many of the residents had not seen a three-year-old in a while. Oscar managed to demolished the cake. Her Dad was invited to a school reunion at the Ketch and 20 people were there some of whom had been his students for six years.
Gordon said a few words that no one understood but complained about ground hog day predicting six more weeks of winter. Apparently we are a crazy bunch in Canada.
My Aunt when she was 100 was invited to speak at a 75th reunion at Penticton High. None of my clients ever invited me to speak at a reunion. Glad to be back but will be away babysitting next week in Kelowna.
Pat reported on the slippery roads Monday morning and had never seen that much ice. Enjoyed tea and crumpets last week. A member of her bowling team and a friend is suffering from dementia and it was Pat's turn to drive her home yesterday. She ran into Gordon and now knows where he lives.
Bob welcomed back everyone. He was in Palm Springs and his kids wanted to play golf but the cost is $85 after 3 PM or $125. So not on and going to the Purple Room with a live jazz bar. The family alto went to Whistler last week for four nights and left one day early because Karen missed the dog.
