Sam was away for the last three weeks. Sam went to the stag in Mexico for Justin’s twin. He took a terrifying and fun zip line. They rode on mules to get to the top of the zip line. Justin’s mule apparently was the most competitive and apparently it would bite the other mules to get ahead. Sam has returned to school (teaching – not as a student – yes he is that old – but not as old as us grandpas and grandmas 👩🦳 🧑🦳) and his students are in Richmond Thursday mornings making it easy for him to attend with everyone who is older than him in the Sunrise Universe.
Bill said Blah Blah Blah and as your editor I speak Jaffe so can loosely translate – Jake has gone back to New York. Billed jogged 200 miles this last week. He had a kidney stone named Rocky that was smashed with ultra sound. Yes Bill killed Rocky or at least some technician did who was hired as a kidney stone hit man by Bill. Sayanora Rocky.

Kal also apparently went to Puerto Vallarta but the mule did not survive and he broke the zip line. The great news is he drove to the meeting by himself. YAY 🥳
Chris B. went to a golf tournament at Mayfair Lakes and the dinner with the mayor was good from the Missing Chopsticks restaurant, a French Chinese fusion place. They were auctioning off a meal and she suggested two after the bidding got hot and they raised $7,000. She is going to see if they will donate a meal to our Gala. The KPU garden city lands host the agriculture faculty and they have a farmers market at the library every Tuesday.
Marg’s cousin leaves Friday after visiting Whistler, Chemainus, Granville Island and all the other local tourist sights including Seasons in the Park. But they missed the Rockies so she will be coming back. Her Cousin loved the vacation and said she feels like she now has family. Guests make us happy twice. Once when they arrive and once when they leave. Although Marg is looking forward to her cousin’s next visit.
Debbie M is training for the Guts and Glory dragon boat race that is 2000 metres and includes turning the boat. On the first turn she heard some howling behind her (not caw caw) and neither is a good sign. When paddlers get anxious they will lean into the boat which could cause the boat to flip – things were a little bit hairy. 
(Okay maybe not that hairy.) Debbie had previously signed up for ukelele lessons during covid and will now start next week and the club will expect a rendition of our national anthem. Her daughter is now 40 and is partying all the time – and it’s not even May.
Debbie S. succulent fundraiser is this week end with the details in the email she sent on club runner. So head out there between 9 – 3 and walk the beach, have some coffee and buy some succulents! All funds going to wildfire crises relief.
Judy’s daughter’s electric vehicle was t boned by a Uhaul that took off but eventually came back and the drive claimed he had gone to get his drivers licence. Suspiciously there was only one person in the car when they came back when it appeared there had been two. Fortunately she is not hurt too badly. Judy is off to Birch Bay for the weekend and took her sister out for her 50th wedding anniversary. Judy is baby sitting regularly and watching hockey.
Pat met with Elena Jeanette and Peachy at the driving range last Thursday and they had improved by the end of the session. Pat played Mayfair lakes for the first time and was not impressed by all the water. (I have learned that in golf to miss the water you need to aim at it. Unless of course you occasionally hit the ball straight.) Her Grandchildren’s sports have started again including hockey and volleyball.
Micheal said not too much had happen (like we hadn’t heard that before) but he was busy with work and banquets are really busy. Adan now in pre school and Amber is pre pre school and this makes it easier on grandma. He has booked a trip at the end of October and he is going to India and London. He then told us about a very frightening experience shopping in Seattle with his wife on Tuesday. He had to get a tag removed from one of his boots so he returned to Seattle and on his return one of his tires went flat after a bump and shaking. Fortunately he was at Costco where they put the tire on for him. He got to the border and paid his duties. As he was driving at about 80 he heard another boom and he saw his tire rolling on the road in front of him. He parked on the side and was in shock. His truck had been rolling on the brake drums and the wheel hubs. He is out of the car sweating when a large truck goes by and the wind pulled him onto the highway. It took him a moment to realized he was in the middle of the road. He called uber and twice they canceled from a km away. Finally another uber came and picked him up. Apparently, Uber drivers have been lured into a secluded area and robbed. The meditation last week helped him. It is going to cost $2,000 to repair the truck. Used Bobby’s BCAA card to get it towed.
Peachy last week enjoyed the experience of striking the golf ball and hitting it far away. It had been a long time since she last sweated but was pleased she passed level one in golf. She is back working with clients and her ankle is a little bit stronger than before. She is looking to connect with a social worker in a facility because not everyone has a care aide and it is especially important and safer for dementia patients to have a one on one care aide.
I just returned from Maui where the restaurants golf courses and beaches are empty and Maui needs the tourists to start coming back. Daughter’s YouTube videos have over 40,000 views. Off to the Oregon coast next week.
Mary Lou had a great labour day weekend at the cabin. Really enjoyed her 50th grade reunion at Point Grey and did not sit down the whole evening. Is taking Oscar to preschool and loves it - Mary Lou does that is - I assume Oscar too as he has his lunch kit and pack back. She is off to the sunshine coast for weekend.
Dalbir got Bill confused with Larry as they were wearing the same coloured clothing. Dale, oops, I mean Dalbir, recommends getting a premium BCAA membership as his car was not working and got towed for free. He at one time was driving a Honda civic and the wind from a big truck would actually spin it around. If the car is on fire you should go on the road and not the side of the road. Dalbir is going to Maui in October. He has a friend who laid off his laundry crew there because the hotels are empty. If you are looking to make a period piece movie Garth’s Office would be perfect. Dalbir’s father in law was in need of urgent care was sent to a different emergency and ended up with a 10 – 12 hour wait.
Joyce has been away and everywhere including a mariachi party. 💃🏻 She is now back to regular life. She asks that if you haven’t please sign up for Sergeant at Arms and inspirational quotes.
Sandra was suffering vertigo from crystals in her ear and the physiotherapist helped as did the meditation last week which was awesome. Last weekend was the beginning of harvest season so she was at a wine makers gourmet dinner at Culmina winery. The devastation from the fire came right to the highway around Osoyoos. The fire had jumped the vineyards and the golf course. Tonight is Thursday and another wine makers dinner.
Larry is not in good shape. He has a problem with his leg and he fell down stairs and caused more damage. He talked to his new surgeon last Wednesday and is going for surgery Tuesday. There are 8 surgeons booked for 11 hour surgery. The procedure is to take off the top of his head and put on a cranial cover. Muscle from his leg will be transplanted to his head along with an artery from his arm and a massive skin graft from his back. There will be two neurologists and a stand by staff waking him every hour to make sure all the grafting is working and if not they will take mor muscle from his leg. He will be in the plastics ward for two weeks. His new surgeon has assured Larry that he has done this procedure before and has no fear and neither does Larry. We were all so happy that Larry came to the meeting Thursday and will all be wishing him a good outcome.
Bob had a quiet week and reiterated the findings from the big fire in 2004 that the simplest thing is to raise the canopies of the trees where possible. Went to the awesome Brian Adams concert in Penticton.
Bobby is Bobby BCAA and he uses his free tow every year. He has also had serious vertigo and physio solved it without medication. Offered his prayers for Larry and Larry offered his cheque for club dues. Congratulations to Pat who paid first even before Debbie. His daughter has been promoted to district manager with Fidelity. It has been busy at the hall. He went to a wedding in Sacramento. He also saw his first NFL football game Rams v Steelers. He hopes to have all the invoices cleared by the end of September. Apparently the email to Kal keeps getting returned as “no such email address.” Bobby will be sending around the Bailiff to serve the invoice and the Small Claims Summons on Kal.
Danny experienced the same issue as Michael in Saudi Arabia in the middle of the desert. Danny went hiking with his daughter at Deep Cove, 3.8K to the Bel Carra viewpoint. He is off to Singapore Malaysia and Philippines.
Elena, whose singing of O Canada takes us up a level went for lovely dinner with Danny and his wife to plan the next dental mission. She has been to the Philippines consulate and has been asked by the department of trade and industry and the director of Canada Philippines to organize a trade mission to the Philippines. Her 80 year old sister has retired from nursing and has helped pack six boxes of books for the Rotary Sunrise Library in her village in the Philippines. Her sister is
returning to the village to teach.
Jeanette last Thursday went at 4 AM to New Westminster to sing happy birthday to a friend who must have been thrilled to have happy birthday sung to them at 4 AM – I mean who wouldn’t? At the driving range last week Pat was so patient teaching them how to swing a golf club and most important of all you have to hit the ball. She was excited to buy her own bucket of 60 balls but not so excited about the pain afterwards.
Blair realized the meeting was running late so jokingly said he will be 30 minutes (no one laughed). But they did laugh when he said he did not know people got two turns at S at A. Unfortunately beginning of August he went to Calgary as his father passed away after a lengthy illness. But there were four generations of family together for the first time ever which was good to see. He has finally moved into his own place and it easier to sneak ladies in at night and he did not mean ladies of the night.
Garth /Gord was off to Court try to get some more orders for the trial he won earlier this year. Could have used Pat at a golf tournament he was at at Morgan Creek as the other two on his team were not there for the tournament. Neither had ever played golf before and made for an interesting round. By the way you do not want the first time you play golf to be on Morgan Creek.
