This is the weekly bulletin for
The Richmond Sunrise Rotary Club
Oct 23/2018
Last weeks meeting

John and Chris M gave us an excellent update on the Divergy auction process.  The process can (should) eliminate most bid sheet and volunteer challenges. Beginning to sound like it will work well! A few issues to sort out at the next auction committee meeting on Nov 12th at 6:30 PM

Debbie S conducted the first round draw for the "Wine Survivor" fundraiser. John won "the pity bottle" as his was the first name to be eliminated from the competition. Drawings continue during the week with the final draw at the upcoming Thursday morning meeting.

  - Pat away in Palm Springs this week....

 - Kal attended last weeks meeting BUT was absent the prior week (and we missed him)....

 - Several reminders about the election. There was a typical poor turnout again but I suspect that all Rotarians did their civic duty.

 - Kathy volunteered to do "set up"!   Larry thanked her for this welcome assistance!

 - Soon to be new member Ron, generously offered fruit from his 21 fruit trees...

 - Nice to see that Bob is back - been a while!! Has had a "trying" summer....

 - Elena reminded us about the Rotary Friendship Exchange to the Philippines Partner District 3810. Departure Jan 28 for either 2 or 3 weeks. Contact Elena if you are interested. For more info Go to  https://rotary5040.org/sitepage/rotary-friendship-exchange

Meanderings

 - The "Foundation Fund Raiser" AKA "Wine Survivor" is to be finished this week. So far the only winner is John M and he earns our pity! Congratulations to the two Debbies (M and S) for this unique fundraiser!

Foundation fundraiser (FFR) -  Wine Survivor!   Here is how it works:

4. Once the draws begin, names will be pulled each day for elimination from the pool.  If you have an immunity, your name will go back in.
5. This will continue until there are just 3 people left, who will win:
a.            1st place – 32 bottles of wine
b.            2nd place – 16 bottles of wine
c.             3rd place – 11 bottles of wine
6. If you are first to be eliminated, you will win the first bottle of wine (it’s a pity thing!).

Today's chuckle(s)

 - A teacher asked her students to use the word "beans" in a sentence. "My father grows beans," said one girl. "My mother cooks beans," said a boy. A third student spoke up, "We are all human beans."

  - Q: Did you hear about the kidnapping at school?
A: It's okay. He woke up.
